Original WWI trench art decorated mess kit.  Standard GI issue mess kit with 1917 dated handle.  Lid is decorated with an engraving of an eagle and a globe with AEF above the eagle and the dates 1918, 1919.  The art work is very well done, impressive detail.  The lid and body have the name M.E. Alvey scratched in.
